Capital: Virtual Cash $50,000
- It has been tough for me to keep track of the SGX stock challenge as I have to juggle between work. And it is not easy for me to make trades via the SGX stock simulation portal (because you cannot queue and have to be there to make the trades real-time)
- I'm cutting some losses on many positions that were entered in bad situations. Overall, it is still a paper loss.
- I'm beginning to see that less is more: instead of trying to profit from every trade, Investors like Brian at Forever financial freedom only invested 3 positions. And has a 16% profit.
Weekly thoughts (16/9/2018):
- The global market besides US is hit widely by a variety of reasons linked to trade war since the start of September. China, Hong Kong and Singapore markets have been hit with many stocks dropping.
- My portfolio similarly suffered losses but my ranking has stabilised at around 60 (which is half the participants taking part) I can't imagine how much paper losses those behind me are tanking at the moment.
Weekly thoughts (25/8/2018):
- This game is perhaps good for traders who can make money quicker and bad for investors like myself who rely less on charts and have a longer investment time-frame.
- I was forced to make speculative trades to try to up my rankings and so I followed the wave of AEM, which brought me to a top ranking of #5. However, I did not really know when to lock in profit. As a result, I lost most of the gains since it rose almost 20% a day and dropped 16% the next. I managed to lock in a profit of $1,600.
- Most of my trades thereafter did not really profit yet.
- Staying true to your own investment strategy is quite difficult especially when you see people getting high gains.
- Investing note has a crop of really good traders who are good at small caps and trading warrants. Perhaps it would be also good for me to widen my knowledge and make my training complete by learning these.
- After one week, not so bad! But it makes me wonder, at -1% portfolio, I'm 52. This means that there are almost 90 people who are making much more losses than me! shocking.
